The Arboretum at UC Santa Cruz & Phoenix Lake
Connie, Sarah and I get a bite to eat before heading to the Arboretum at the University of California Santa Cruz college.
You can easily spend an entire day at the Arboretum. The UC Santa Cruz collections focus on plants from New Zealand.
Sarah spotted the first Alligator Lizard (Elgaria multicarinata) on this California trip.

Phoenix Lake is located near the town of San Raphael.
This Western Fence Lizard lost both its back feet in a fire that was in the area.
Dry to the dry conditions, there weren't very many scorpions out and about. This is one of the few that were found.
This young Northern Pacific Rattlesnake was seen crossing the street in the early evening.
