Henry Coe Park is the largest state park in northern California, with over 87,000 acres of wild open spaces. The terrain of the park is rugged, varied and beautiful - with lofty ridges and steep canyons.

This was the only scorpion that I found on the trip.
Arboreal Salamander Climbing Creature
Arboreal Salamanders are sit-and-wait-predators. This is a baby. Adults eat small invertebrates and sometimes slender salamanders on the ground at night during wet weather. These salamanders often climb trees.

Skink Skilton's Skink
Skinks live in grassland, woodlands, pine forests, sagebrush, chaparral - especially in open sunny areas such as clearings and the edges of creeks and rivers. This one was found near a creek.
Frog Lake Frog Lake
Unfortunately this body of water did not live up to its name - it was too cold for frogs to be out.

These are small woodland salamanders which breathe through their smooth, moist, thin skin.
SHenry Coe Final Look
Henry Coe is a very scenic place, and I hope to return when the weather is better.
