It was time to head back up into the mountains, where it was cooler, to see what we could find.

Because of increased elevation and humidity (due to fog), there's a number of reptiles and amphibians that can be found in the mountains in August.

This Coast Garter Snake was in shed and flattened out its body in order to appear larger.
Slender Salamander Skinny Salamander
Due to the warm, dry conditions, salamanders were hard to find on this trip, but we did find a couple of Slender Salamanders.
