MARIN COUNTY
On Wednesday I headed up to Marin County to do some herping with Natalie. It was great weather for California Newts.

Other amphibians were easy to find as well. Here was my first Sierra Treefrog of the trip.

A "power trio" consisting of an Arboreal Salamander, Banana Slug and big spider - all under the same piece of cover.

Ringnecks were the snake we found the most of.

Everybody loves Ringneck Snakes - even me.

But I was also glad to see the first Sharptail Snake of the year.

And the only scorpion of the trip.

We liked this Fence Lizard, it had some cool turquoise markings.

Natalie and I found a few Ensatina Salamanders too.

On the way home I stopped at a spot to look for snakes and came across a few Coast Garter Snakes. When they are young they do not have any red, as they grow they develop color.

I also saw some California Red-legged Frogs, which are Federally listed as "threatened."
