FRIDAY
On Friday the weather was similar, though with skies which were much more cloudy. Here's Winter's Pond as seen from the north end of Snake Road.

The most commonly seen water snakes were Yellowbellies.

Diamondback Water Snakes could be found on the Big Muddy River levee.

This little Copperhead had to be the most photographed snake of the day. It stayed on this log a couple of feet off the road, while dozens of people walking by throughout the day would stop and take it's picture.

Snake Road seemed a bit "greener" than on previous years.

This Yellowbelly Water Snake was unusual in that it had two yellow blotches on its head.

I only saw one Western Ribbon Snake and it quickly slithered away. Rough Green Snakes were easier to encounter.

I did not see a Rat Snake on my 2012 visit to the area and I've never found a baby Rat Snake, so I was pretty stoked about this.

And finding an adult a few minutes later wasn't too shabby either.

Here's a close-up. Finding the Rat Snakes was a great way to end the day.
