MONDAY
On the final day it hit the low 70s. I once again teamed up with the Vanderpoel brothers. We visited a few places in the area. Our first stop was a quest for Zigzag Salamanders, which would be a lifer for all of us. We didn't find our lifers, but did get a couple of nice Cave Salamanders.
And a couple of baby Water Snakes too.
Five-lined Skink.
Grasshopper.
The Vanderpoels wanted to try for another lifer that I have had a long familiarity with.
Mission accomplished - Spotted Salamander.
Finding this King Snake was a definate last day highlight.
This is probably the largest king I've ever found in the wild.
Eventually we made it back onto Snake Road and saw this Red-spotted Purple.
I have not seen a Broadhead Skink in several years and have never seen one on Snake Road, so this was a cool find.
It was only fitting that the trip ended the way it began - with a Western Cottonmouth.
See you next year, Snake Road.
