After some warmer, dryer weather, I opted to give Mount Hamilton another try.

Newt Big Newt
This California Newt was big and fat.

Toad Time
I expected to see far more toads on the trip, but only came across two.
Lick Observatory Lick Observatory
At the top of the mountain, Lick Observatory operates on behalf of the astronomers at all ten UC campuses.
Gopher Snake Yellow Gopher
This Gopher Snake had very little black pigment.

Rattlesnake Rattlesnake Relaxation
There's no shortage of Northern Pacific Rattlesnakes on Mount Hamilton.
Garter Snake Devil's Garter
This Diablo Range Garter Snake was the third and final "lifer" found on the trip.
Rattlesnake Shake, Shake, Shake!
This rattler posed calmly for one photo, the went into "full defensive mode."
Rattlesnake Baby Snake
While persuing the Rattlesnake photographed above, I ran into this baby, which was probably born last year.
Gopher Snake The Huge snake of the Day
The last snake found on Friday was also the largest - a gigantic Pacific Gopher.
