Christmas Tree Pass is the gateway to Spirit Mountain. A miniature pine tree forest grows out of the granite floor of the pass. These trees seem strangely out of place in the maze of boulders they grow between.

Christmas Tree Pass
Rock Floor Rock Floor
It's an interesting sensation to be surrounded by rocks.
Gecko
Banded Beauty
Although the conditions seemed good, I only found one Banded Gecko on the entire trip.
Beans String Beans?
There's no shortage of interesting vegetation in the desert.
Night Lizard Tiny Lizard
Night Lizards are the smallest reptiles in the southwest. They give birth to live offspring and do not have moveable eyelids.
Christmas Tree Pass Opportunity Knocks
Deep washes cut through the smooth desert floor, providing a foothold for plant life.
Zebratail Zooming Zebratail
Zebratails almost appear to be a blur as they dart across washes (one of their favorite places to inhabit).
